Ancient Elizabethan cottage style farmhouse (near Criccieth) circa 1575, expertly restored to maintain many original features including a massive inglenook which has the original stone circular stairway, (very low ceiling in parts - may be difficult for the elderly) - by the side. Adjacent to, but separate from the farmhouse is Derwen furnished with some fine Welsh antique furniture. Circular stone staircase with very low ceiling in parts - may be difficult for the elderly. Freedom of the farm with fishing in the river nearby. 20 miles of cycle track within 100 yds - this was the original railway track between Caernarfon and Porthmadog.
Snowdonia National Park and Lleyn Peninsula
Just north of Porthmadog and Borth y Gest on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park - to the west the Lleyn Peninsula with a score of coves, harbours and vast stretches of safe, sandy beaches, Black Rock sands the closest. On a fine day the great little train ride from Porthmadog to the slate quarry museum at Blaenau Ffestiniog, should not be missed or the train ride to the top of Snowdon - quicker than walking! Easy motoring from this ancient Elizabethan cottage to Porthmadog or Criccieth for good shopping and also to the wonderful castles of Wales, Caernarfon to the north and Harlech to the south.
