Mountain Biking in the Cambrian Mountains

Take a trip by train and sit back and enjoy the rolling countryside as it unfolds on the Cambrian Railway line from Shrewsbury to Machynlleth where it connects with another beautiful railway line, the Cambrian Coaster which runs between Aberystwyth and Pwhelli. In the north, the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway travels through hilly border country to it's main terminus at Llanfair Caereinion. The Brecon Mountain Railway, a narrow gauge steam train, travels through the beautiful scenery of the National Park.

A cyclist's paradise - quiet roads, peaceful byways along old drover's routes and dedicated traffic free paths and the central section of Lon Las Cymru, the Welsh National Cycle Route, climbs over a spectacular mountain pass from Machynlleth along the Wye Valley, home of the medieval Tintern Abbey, to the Brecon Beacons.
